Taiping's history started more or less in the middle of the 19th century when the different warlords fought over the tin-fields in the Larut district of Perak. Chinese merchants had heavily invested in the tin mines and needed peace. So they pressured Raja Abdullah and several warlords to keep peace and accept the Pangkor Treaty 1874

Wrong! There are plenty of places you can cast your lines and get a bite.

Fishing in the city is possible and there are places here where you can still fish, albeit for a fee, and in some areas, fishing is still allowed for free.

Lakes and Ponds
There are a number of disused mining pools and ponds on the outskirts of the city such as in Ampang, Batu Caves, Kepong, Gombak and Puchong which you can cast your lines, for free, but chances of a good catch are very slim, unless you have good local knowledge.

Ponds and lakes in public parks such as Lake Titiwangsa, Lake Perdana, and Tasik Permaisuri (in Cheras) in the city are out of bounds. Fish and you will be given a fine.

However, during specific periods, such as City Day, the KL City Hall organises fishing contests here. Otherwise, you can't fish here - no matter how tempting it might be to you.

Rivers
You may have seen some foolhardy folk casting their lines into the Kelang River in the city centre. These waterways are out of bounds for the obvious danger they pose. Besides, the fish in the river are contaminated anyway, so forget about it.

Sea
You can fish for free by the sea but the sea (at Port Klang) is more than 50km away! But if you still itch to cast your lines into the blue yonder, you can get there by the KTM Komuter which services the route from Sentul to Pulau Ketam jetty at the South Port. Once at South Port, get down at the last station which is the Pulau Ketam jetty.

The train fare is about RM20.00 for a return ticket. Get down at the Pulau Ketam jetty and ask the locals where you might be allowed to fish.

Or you can take a boat ride to Pulau Ketam and ask locals there where you might get to fish, which is at fish farms and aquaculture centres there.

Pay Ponds
If you know where to look, there are several in Kuala Lumpur itself. The rest are spalttered all over the outskirts of the city.

These are commercial ponds offering saltwater, freshwater and prawn fishing. You pay a fee to get in, fish for a specified period, and get to take the fish home. Fish baits are sold here.

So are food and fishing equipment, such as reels, rods, hooks, lines and sinkers. If you don't want to buy a full gear, rod and reels are also available for rent.

Fee are usually at RM10 per hour for a minimum of three hours' fishing. Additional hours are chargeable at RM10 per hour and discounts are given after five hours' bookings.

Fish hooked are sometimes entered for a weekly contest where the heaviest fish wins. Lucky draws - ie. tagged fish landed - are also held and prizes range from kitchen utensils and fishing equipment to bikes and even cars.

Saltwater ponds: Fish species available here include snappers, barramundis, jewfish, rock cods, and in some places, even one odd sting ray or two.

Freshwater ponds: These are built for freshwater fish only such as the red tilapia, marble goby, river catfish, pacu (a fruit-eating variant of the piranha) and carps.

Prawn ponds: Udang galah or Malaysian king prawns are not only delicious when cooked in chili but provides a good fight when hooked on prawning gear. Prawn ponds are smaller than the commercial fish ponds and some small operators even operate from within coffeeshops.
To find out where you might find a fishing pond, write.

Fishing Equipment
Even if you are not fishing here, you might want to check out some of the tackle shops in the city. Considering the favourable exchange rates, you might even get away with a good bargain for hooks, lines and sinkers.

Reels, too, such as Shimano, Penn, Okuma, and the likes can also be quite cheap in Kuala Lumpur.

The range should also be quite interesting in some angling supply shops because of the large number of anglers in Kuala Lumpur.

Fishing Charters
If you are in Kuala Lumpur for more than just a few days, and you are an angler, perhaps you might want to try out the local fishing charters. The best place to check for the availability of such tours is the local travel agent or the tourism promotion body. Usually they may have something to suggest. Travel companies, realising the importance fishing has become to the travel industry, are also offering this package although it may not be listed under the usual packages offered.

Generally fishing charters are chargeable per boat size. The cost us usually spread out among the number of anglers taking part in the charter. Baits are usually provided on the charter and fishing guides, who also double up as the captain or deckhands of the fishing boat, are on hand to show the best spots.

Journeys may begin late at night or very early in the morning and lasts between eight hours for a 'one-day fishing trip' to a 'five-day three-night' packages. For one-day trips, usually smaller boats are used and even smaller groups are accepted by the boat operator. For longer trips, larger and more powerful boats are used and these are 'mini' luxury cruisers with cooking and bathing facilities, and some even, airconditioned.GlucoseBoyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924840421268220064noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533570391540774139.post-43279789709247837592011-05-17T16:26:00.000-07:002011-05-17T16:26:00.724-07:00ZIPPO LIGHTERS~

Company history

Establishment

George G. Blaisdell founded Zippo Manufacturing Company in 1932, and produced the first Zippo lighter in early 1933, being inspired by an Austrian cigarette lighter of similar design. It got its name because Blaisdell liked the sound of the word "zipper" and "zippo" sounded more modern. On March 3, 1936, patent was granted for the Zippo lighter.

Zippo lighters became popular in the United States military, especially during World War II — when, as the company's Web site says, Zippo "ceased production of lighters for consumer markets and dedicated all manufacturing to the U.S. military." The Zippo at that time was made of brass, but as this commodity was unobtainable due to the war, Zippo used steel during the war years. While the Zippo Manufacturing Company never had an official contract with the military, soldiers and armed forces personnel insisted that Base exchange (BX) stores carry this sought-after lighter. While it had previously been common to have Zippos with authorized badges, unit crests and division insignia, it became popular among the American soldiers of the Vietnam War, to get their Zippos engraved with personal mottos. These lighters are now sought after collectors items and popular souvenirs for visitors to Vietnam.

After World War II, the Zippo lighter became increasingly used in advertising by companies large and small through the 1960s. Many of the early advertising Zippo lighters are works of art painted by hand, and as technology has evolved, so has the design and finish of the Zippo lighter. The basic mechanism of the Zippo lighter has remained unchanged.

In 2002 Zippo expanded its product line to include a variety of utility-style multi-purpose lighters, known as the Zippo MPL. This was followed in 2005 with the Outdoor Utility Lighter, known as the OUL. These lighters are fueled with butane. In August 2007 Zippo released a new butane lighter called the Zippo BLU.

A museum called Zippo/Case visitors center is located in Bradford, Pennsylvania at 1932 Zippo Drive. This 15,000 square foot (1398 m²) building contains rare and custom made Zippo lighters, and also sells the entire Zippo line. The museum was featured on the NPR program Weekend Edition Sunday on January 25, 2009. The museum also contains an enormous collection of Case knives. Since the Zippo company's 60th anniversary in 1992, annual editions have been produced for worldwide Zippo collectors.

From 1949 to 2002 Zippos were also produced in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Since 1933, over 400,000,000 Zippo lighters have been produced.

In 2009, Zippo announced plans to purchase Ronson Consumer Products Corporation, a long-time competitor in the lighter market. On February 3, 2010, the deal was finalized.

March 2011: Due to significant decrease of sales from 18 million lighter a year in the mid-1990s to about 12 million lighters this year related with pressure increasing on folks not to smoke, Zippo Manufacturing Co. will try offering a wider variety of products using Zippo brands such as watches, leisure clothing and cologne. This strategy is similar with a success of Victorinox Swiss Army Brands Inc. has had selling watches, luggage, clothing and fragrance.

Usage

Besides having gained popularity as “windproof” lighters, Zippo lighters are able to stay lit in harsh weather, due to the design of the windscreen and adequate rate of fuel delivery. As such, until recently they were highly popular with backpackers and within the military. Professional backpackers (operating in the wilderness) have however now turned away from the regular Zippo lighter in favor of butane lighters, heavy-duty matches, and ferrocerium rods. Many high-altitude and cold weather backpackersstill prefer Zippo lighters because butane lighters are less reliable in cold weather.

A consequence of the windproofing is that it is hard to extinguish a Zippo by blowing out the flame. However, if the flame is blown from the top down, it will easily be extinguished. The proper way to extinguish the lighter is to close the top half, which starves the flame of oxygen, but unlike other lighters, this does not cut the fuel. One of the recognizable features of Zippo is the fact that it burns with a wick. Opening the top lid produces an easily recognizable clicking sound for which Zippo lighters are known, and a different, but similar click can be heard when the lighter is closed. This noise is produced by the cam, a little lever that keeps the lid closed or opened securely, which is intended to keep the lid closed when not in use.

Price

Current Zippos carry a suggested retail price between US$12.95 up to US$12,675.95 for the 18k solid gold model. In 2001, according to the fall 2003 issue of IUP Magazine, a 1933 model was purchased for $18,000 at a swap meet in Tokyo, and in 2002 the company bought one valued at $12,000 for its own collection. During the 2007 75th anniversary celebrations, Zippo sold a near mint 1933 model for $37,000.

All Zippo lighters carry a limited lifetime guarantee, promoted using the trademarked phrase "It works or we fix it for free." The corporate web site boasts: "In almost 75 years, no one has ever spent a cent on the mechanical repair of a Zippo lighter regardless of the lighter’s age or condition."

Zippo dates

From mid-1955 Zippo started year coding their lighters by the use of dots (.). From 1966 until 1973 the year code was denoted by combinations of vertical lines (|). From 1974 until 1981 the coding comprised combinations of forward slashes (/), and from 1982 until June 1986 the coding was by backslash (\).

In July 1986, Zippo began including a lot code on all lighters showing the month and year of production. On the left of the underside was stamped a letter A–L, denoting the month (A = January, B = February, C = March, etc.). On the right was a Roman numeral which denoted the year, beginning with II in 1986. Thus a Zippo stamped H IX was made in August, 1993. However in 2001, Zippo altered this system, changing the Roman numerals to more conventional Arabic numerals. Thus a Zippo made in August 2004 was stamped H 04. There was a myth that Zippo lighters were made by prisoners, and the number identified the prisoner, or their crime and sentence length. Another myth was that a Zippo stamped 'H' was inferior to one stamped 'A'.

Construction

The cases of Zippo lighters are typically made of metal and are rectangular with a hinged top. On most models, the top of the case is slightly curved.

Inside the case are the works of the lighter: the spring-toggle lever that keeps the top closed, the wick, windscreen chimney, thumbwheel, and flint, all of which are mounted on an open-bottom metal box that is slightly smaller than the bottom of the outer case, and into which it slips snugly.

The hollow part of the interior box encloses a rayon batt which is in contact with the wick. The fuel, light petroleum distillate or synthetic isoparaffinic hydrocarbon (commonly referred to as lighter fluid or naphtha), is poured into the batt, which traps it. It also contains a tube that holds a short, cylindrical flint. The tube has an interior spring and exterior cap-screw that keeps the flint in constant contact with the exterior thumb-wheel. Spinning this rough-surfaced wheel against flint results in a spark that ignites the fluid in the wick.

The batt once had a small hole in the bottom to facilitate easier refueling. It was often used as a place to store extra flints. Newer models do not always have the hole, and instead have a flap in the bottom of the batt (with the hinge on one of the short edges). The words "LIFT TO FILL" are stamped in black ink multiple times on the bottom, with the intention being that the user should lift the flap and squirt the fuel in to the batt material under the flap.

All parts of the lighter are replaceable. In all there are 22 parts, and the Zippo lighter requires 108 manufacturing operations.

Zippo in Popular Culture
Zippo lighters are often included in films and modern movies. Usually popularized by famous villains and heroes. The Zippo lighter was re-introduced to a new generation when it was featured in the 1988 action-flick Die Hard, in which the main character recovers a zippo off of an enemy terrorist early in the movie. The zippo is featured in several classic scenes, it also helps reference the modern film back to western style themed movies of the 1950s and early 1960s.

Zippo lighters are often featured in crime sagas, usually owned by a distinguished character within the movie. The classic and infamous sound of zippo opening closing, and igniting can be synonymous with the introduction of a very important character in these movies.

A zippo lighter was also an important plot device in the 1994 film Four Rooms. The memorable scene takes place in a hotel room where a famous hollywood producer places a high-stakes bet with an anonymous party-goer that he cannot light his zippo lighter ten times in a row. This particular scene is referred to as the best in the entire movie.

Zippo lighters have become standard accessories for many celebrities as well. Actor/Comedian Denis Leary uses a zippo lighter during his 1992/1993 comedy tour "No Cure for Cancer". Leary would present his satirical rants while holding/smoking a lit cigarette. The taped performance introduction has Leary walking up to the microphone, putting the cigarette into his mouth, and lighting it with a zippo lighter, the only audible noise being the zippo opening, igniting, and closing. Leary has carried the Zippo tradition to his television show Rescue Me, in which his ex-wife's new boyfriend steals Leary's beloved FDNY Zippo lighter.

The Zippo BLU
Zippo released the Zippo BLU in 2007. It is a butane torch lighter, which Zippo has gone to great lengths to make sure is still "identifiable as a Zippo". Specifically, the lid and cam were "tuned" so that the lighter still makes the distinctive "Zippo click" and also it is one of the only butane torch lighters that uses a flint and striker wheel.
LMV reviews are interesting in that they can offer the perspective of a person who's untainted by the cloud of commonness that surrounded a famous film of the past, and also show how well it has stood the test of time.]

It was another dark and stormy night in Ohio, and I was about to do something I’d never done before: I was going to watch Blade Runner for the first time. I’m surprised I’ve been able to go 25 years and still know so little about it. To give you an example of how blind I was when starting it, I knew there was an owl in the movie, but I never even knew Harrison Ford was in it, let alone that it was a noir film!

It’s not that I didn’t want to see it, but instead that I was looking forward to it so much that I wanted to save it for later, like it was a fine wine that could age with time. I’ve done that with plenty of films in the past –Lawrence of Arabia is still my cellar’s top unopened shelf – which can sometimes be incredibly disappointing, but this time proved to be worth the wait. To be clear up front though, even though I’ll comment on how it stood the test of time, I never review movies on how well they do or don’t live up to hype. It’s also worth noting that I saw the “Final Cut” version of Blade Runner.

Poor, William Gibson. Philip K. Dick got the ambitiously serious Blade Runner adaptation, and Gibson only got Johnny Mnemonic. It’s great how serious the movie takes itself, and I like how it’s even called Blade Runner, which is just a made up term for the special cops in this world, but it sticks to it and doesn’t for a second consider it not to be reality. This confidence is something many films lack, but something I’ll fight to the death is that opening your movie with a wall of backstory text may be pragmatically successful, but it’s still a copout. That being said, the opening text is pretty much the only part of the movie that lacks finesse.

Each scene feels like a carefully crafted storyboard frame coming to life in a way that creates dozens of iconic still frames that can summarize the film’s entire tone in a way that’s Kubrick levels of success. I love the constant attention to both lighting and animals’ scarcity in the future. Something less noticeable but equally as great is the soundtrack. I think a good comparison is Risky Business’s famous song, Love On A Real Train, in that sounds from both movies don’t feel like they try to be great, but by not overselling it they are. All the jazz and synthesizer sounds are incredibly simple, yet fill you with more emotion than the complex melodies we love to listen to most weeks out of the year.

While I don’t fault its widely flawed dystopian view of the future, a lot of its artistic choices made me grin. I fully realize that we’re not in 2019 yet, and also that it was less of a prediction and more of a grim warning for a possible path we don’t want to take, but the notion that we’d still be using eight inch screens and green text for all electronics in the future is something Ridley Scott probably regrets doing in both this andAlien. Its portrayal of the importance of advertising is present, and despite its false fear that corporation owners would grow to the size of nonchalantly building friggin’ ziggurats, it was still a really cool artistic decision.

Something the movie got right is casting. Harrison Ford was mostly a dull simpleton, but that’s pretty much what the role called for, which is a complaint I have with the noir genre, not this film. Why is the “someday I’ll turn my life around” mentality shameful of the high school jock who now drinks away his paychecks, but admirable for noir men just because they’re not loud mouths and wear more expensive clothes? Other than that, the villains, the police, the businessmen, the androids (“replicants”), and especially the love interest are all superbly cast. The exception to this is definitely the “scientist” who deals with insanely advanced biogenetics, but is just some seedy Chinatown dude making million dollar technology in his basement. Um, what? No. If that’s artistic license, then you’re under arrest. Show me what a futuristic lab would really look like. However, I did like its take on androids; they deserved another scene or two. Also, I still can’t believe that Pris wasn’t played by a young Lorraine Bracco!

Despite painting an immersive future world in ways that not even most modern science fiction film budgets can pull off, it still doesn’t entirely escape my common complaint about the genre. It’s something that Tron: Legacy really suffered from: feeling hollow. Unlike Tron 2, it’s certainly busy with people going about their lives, but it feels more like you’re only seeing the dark corner of this world’s poverty and middle class, while only seeing one wealth’s perception. Why completely hide the rest of the world? The easy answer is that it didn’t fit this story’s theme, or that it argues the planet's future is completely grim and we’re not missing much, but neither of those answers sit well with me, and it’s why I love The Fifth Element so damn much for being far more bold than it needed to be. The story mentions that much of humanity has migrated off of Earth to other spots in the universe, and that only the ugliness of humanity remains on Earth. This isawesome, but it would have been great if a place outside Earth was explored even once. Not because it’s necessary, but because the best movies go far above and beyond.

I’m also going to call Blade Runner out on having a few random lines of dialogue that were flops. Some instances can be seen in the short Leon fight, as well as sporadically with J.F. Sebastian, who could have used more polishing. The climax’s speech was pretty good combined with acting that was insanely good, but I’m surprised the romantic scene isn’t (more?) iconic in the masses today. Spoiler alert from here until the end: when Deckard doesn’t allow Rachael to leave his apartment after his romantic gesture wasn’t reciprocated as planned, I was expecting yet another uncomfortable 80s film love moment that explores the gray area of a woman who maybe kinda sorta wants to make love, but that doesn’t matter because Michael Douglas is willing to rape her regardless of how she feels. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I was seeing something unique. The idea that she doesn’t think she deserves to feel love because she’s not human – or that she’s nervous because it’s a human emotion that’s so foreign to her that she might disappoint a human by failing to accurately show the “right” emotions and reactions – is something truly spectacular. I’m really surprised that Sean Young isn’t still relevant to this day, but I’m glad I’ve now seen her in her prime. I’m also really glad that Blade Runner explored relationships between androids as well.

As for the climax, I’m sure it’s already been analyzed a million times, and that’s not enough to deter me from still doing it, but here is not the place to go in depth. I did really enjoy it though, and I like that it both showed how one human emotion an android would acquire is not wanting to be forgotten – which is such a great way to get away with the good guy living in the end – and also that it’s a social commentary on Americans who (both then and even today) still live lives dictated by fear despite having the control to change it. The ending reinforces this with “It’s too bad she won’t live, but then again who does?” I think the villain’s climax is a lot more crucial to the film’s message though, and the debates about the meaning of the ending strike me as far less important. Regardless of which ending you believe, it’s still simply about the two characters escaping their temporary fears in a way the android couple could not, yet still being bound to the same inevitable fear of death that no creature or construction can escape.

Overall Score: 8.65 – Spectacular. (Movies that score between 8.50 and 9.00 are some of the best films its genre has ever created, and fans of any genre will thoroughly enjoy them.)
GlucoseBoyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924840421268220064noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533570391540774139.post-44697514594878200762011-05-15T10:59:00.000-07:002011-05-15T10:59:56.010-07:00Rare Collector`s Edition of RIFT ~ Competition Mode (United States Only)This weekend's giveaway is the Collector's Edition of Rift for the PC, valued at $79.99!
A plasma television is a flat panel television which displays light (and therefore images) by using phosphors. The phosphors are trapped between two thin panels of glass and are triggered by a gas discharge made up fro non harmful Noble Gases. Plasma displays should not be confused with LCDs, another lightweight flatscreen display using different technology.

Plasma TV offer a variable sized screen area that provides excellent quality picture or image, with minimal distortion (An advantage over rear projection!) There are many plasma screen televisions on the market and currently it is vying with LCD to be the market no.1

Most of Plasma TV's screen are start at 42 inch (107cm) in diagonal size and go upwards to around 65 inch (Biggest I have seen!). Large display screen size makes them perfect for any home use or even that garage theatre you have dreamt about.

On Plasma TV, Color reproduction is excellent and the “darkroom” contrast can ensure your display shows the “perfect” black. The Plasma TV can perform well under any lighting, whether it be electrical light or natural light, Even the external brightness will not distort the display of image quality. (So you don’t have to turn the lights off for that scary movie!!)

Each pixel is made up of three fluorescent lights such as a red light, a green light and a blue light. The plasma display varies the intensities of the different lights to produce a full range of colors. Every pixel displayed on the Plasma TV's screen is individually lit, this means the display is always full of colour and can be viewed at any angle by the user.

The Plasma television units are never more than 10cm thick, meaning you can position your plasma TV just about anywhere in your house. A plasma display is a television monitor, capable of displaying HDTV, regular TV, and home video. It's also a computer monitor. In fact, it can accept any video format. Plasma displays typically include inputs for (a) composite video, (b) S-video and component video, and (c) one or more RGB inputs from a computer.

Plasma displays have lower total resolution than LCD displays. These units are not as economical as an LCD one. Plasma televisions use approx same as old CRT units. Plasma units are still quite pricey, although in current economic climate, prices are dropping all the time.

Plasma screens have a “shelf life”. You can expect to use your plasma display in many capacities and for many years: The average lifespan of one of these displays is 30,000 hours. That's about 3.5 years of 24/7 usage! If watching TV was your full-time job, and you did it for 8 hours a day, it would take you more than a decade to wear out your plasma TV display.

Dead pixels may become an issue with Plasma. If Plasma TV's screen is left on pause position for a long time, any logos or prominent images on that show may become “burnt” onto the display. On this case it will cause the logo always appear everytime you watch the TV. So, be careful not to leave your plasma TV on pause for too long!

Plasma displays are much more fragile than a normal television; You should handle with special care. When mounting your plasma television on the wall, please take care to get reinforced supports as the weight is more than that of an LCD unit.

Beginners Tips How to Use Plasma TV :

When hanging a TV above fireplace, ensure the ambient temperature is not more than 80 degrees as you may damage the display.

Don’t leave tv shows on pause for too long, we don’t want the “burning” effect explained above.

With early plasma displays, it is advised, for best picture, to view the image from approx 10 foot away. With newer models it is less as resolution has improved.

The door slammed open in a sudden. "Do you know what time is it?", my mom screams. "Here we go again, shes starts to screw my life with her screeching tone".
Rio (often promoted as Rio: The Movie) is a 2011 American 3D computer-animated musical comedy fil and Blue Sky Studios's sixth feature film under the distribution of 20th Century Fox. It is directed by Carlos Saldanha and features the voice cast by Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez, Jemaine Clement and Jake T.

Plot:

A baby Spix's Macaw who is unable to fly and several other birds are smuggled from Rio de Janeiro to Moose Lake, Minnesota. The box containing the macaw falls to the street and is discovered by a girl named Linda (Leslie Mann), who names him "Blu". Fifteen years later, Linda lives in a bookstore with Blu (Jesse Eisenberg). Túlio (Rodrigo Santoro), an ornithologist, reveals that Blu is the last male of his species, and he needs to mate with a female to preserve it.

Linda takes Blu to Rio. While there, Blu meets Jewel (Anne Hathaway), a female Spix's Macaw, who is only interested in escaping. The shelter is raided by smugglers, who are let in by their Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Nigel (Jemaine Clement), who was posing as a sickly bird. Among them is the smuggler's assistant Fernando (Jake T. Austin), an impoverished and orphaned boy. Blu and Jewel are captured and Nigel explains that he used to be a performing bird on a television program, but was replaced by a parakeet. Out of hatred, Nigel assists smugglers in capturing exotic birds. Blu and Jewel flee, but get lost in the jungle.

They meet a family of toucans, whose father Rafael (George Lopez), offers to take them to see his bulldog friend Luiz (Tracy Morgan) in removing the chain. Rafael also unsuccessfully attempts to teach Blu to fly. The group meets a Red-crested Cardinal named Pedro (Will.i.am) and his canary friend Nico (Jamie Foxx). Meanwhile, Nigel recruits a group of thieving marmosets led by their king Mauro (Brian Baumgartner), to find Blu and Jewel. Linda and Tulio also try to find Blu, assisted by the repentant Fernando. Pedro and Nico take Blu and Jewel to a bird's samba club, where Blu starts to dance, ending in a duet with Jewel. They are attacked by the marmosets, but their bird friends, including a Roseate Spoonbill they met at the samba club named Kipo (Bernardo de Paula) fend them off long enough for the five to escape.

Fernando leads Linda and Tulio to the smugglers' hideout, where they learn the criminals plan to use Carnivale as a cover to regain Blu and Jewel and escape. The group meets Luiz, who unintentionally uses his drool to release Blu and Jewel from the chain. Jewel is overjoyed but Blu is depressed because of his inability to fly and part ways. When Nico and Pedro inform Blu of Jewel's capture by Nigel, Blu plots a rescue mission. Linda and Tulio infiltrate Carnivale by posing as dancers, but Blu, Rafael, Nico and Pedro are captured by Nigel. Linda and Tulio follow the smugglers, but their plane flies off. During the flight, Blu breaks out of his cage, and they flee except for Jewel, who knows Blu's fear of flying. Nigel grievously injures Jewel's wing, but Blu attaches a fire extinguisher to Nigel, blasting him out of the plane and hitting its propeller.

Jewel is pushed out of the plane, and Blu jumps after her. After Jewel kisses him, Blu is overcome by the rhythm of his heart and flies, saving them both. They return to Linda and Tulio, who attempts to tend to Jewel's hurt wing. Jewel is reluctant, but Blu convinces her to trust Tulio.

Some time later, Linda and Tulio have organized the "Blu Bird Sanctuary", a part of Rio's jungle protected from smugglers. Blu and Linda remain very close, though she also has a relationship with Tulio, and is now living in Rio to help run the Blu Bird Sanctuary along with Fernando. Blu and Jewel now live in the jungle with their friends, and are the parents of three chicks. As for Nigel, he has survived but is humiliated by Mauro for his loss of feathers while the smugglers are sent to jail.
